This large (up to 130mm) and common species has a cosmopolitan (world wide) distribution and therefore is thought to have been introduced into Australia. A rapidly moving centipede with an apparently very painful bite - although not considered dangerous, can often be found at night in bushland where it will be actively seeking to flush out burrowing spiders such as trapdoors
